Sochi vs SKA St Petersburg KHL 2026-27 Predictions & Betting Tips - SKA to Bounce Back

SKA St Petersburg -1.5, SKA over 3.5 team goals and SKA to score first are the best bets for Saturday’s KHL matchup against struggling Sochi.

SKA suffered their first defeat of the season against Spartak Moscow on Thursday, but the schedule provides important context. It was their second game in as many nights and fourth in six days, with Igor Larionov rotating his lineup for the trip to Moscow.

Scott Wilson still gave SKA the perfect start by scoring after 4:26. Artemy Pleshkov then protected the lead through two periods despite Spartak holding a 21-8 advantage in shots on goal. The pressure eventually told in the third period, when Spartak scored three times to win 3-1.

SKA should be fresher after Friday’s break and face a Sochi side that has conceded nine goals across consecutive defeats. The hosts have allowed at least four goals in both matches and conceded first on each occasion, supporting all three SKA markets.

  • Sochi have lost both matches, conceding nine goals.
  • Sochi have allowed four or more goals in both defeats.
  • SKA have scored four or more goals in two of their four matches.
  • Sochi have conceded first in both games, while SKA have opened the scoring twice.

Sochi Form

Sochi followed a 5-1 defeat against Neftekhimik with a 4-1 loss away to Avangard. Their latest performance was more competitive than the score suggests, with Sochi producing 26 shots on goal compared with Avangard’s 28, but their finishing remained a major problem.

Denis Vengryzhanovsky scored Sochi’s only goal on the power play with 49 seconds remaining. Alexander Khokhlachyov and Jesse Graham supplied the assists, while Pyotr Andreyanov allowed four goals from 28 shots in his first appearance of the season.

Sochi’s penalty kill also came under pressure during the third period, when Joshua Leivo converted Avangard’s first power-play opportunity. The hosts have now scored only twice from 67 shots across their opening two matches, while neither Ivan Bocharov nor Andreyanov has been able to prevent a heavy defeat.

SKA St Petersburg Form

SKA won their opening three matches before Thursday’s 3-1 defeat against Spartak. They beat Lada 4-3 in overtime, defeated Dynamo Moscow 5-3 and edged Lada 2-1 in another overtime contest.

Nikolai Goldobin has been SKA’s leading creator, producing four assists against Dynamo before setting up Yegor Savikov’s overtime winner against Lada. Scott Wilson scored his first KHL goal against Spartak, finishing a counterattack involving Vasily Glotov and Nikita Zaitsev.

The concern from Thursday was SKA’s lack of sustained attacking pressure. They were outshot 39-15 and failed to score from four power-play opportunities. However, their penalty kill successfully handled all five Spartak power plays, while Pleshkov kept them ahead until early in the third period.

With a rest day before facing one of the league’s weakest defensive teams, SKA should be able to restore the attacking level that produced nine goals across their first two matches.
