Rögle BK vs HV71 SHL Predictions & Betting Tips - Back Rögle's Home Defence

Rögle have been extremely difficult to break down at home this season, and another controlled performance should see them beat HV71 while keeping the visitors under 2.5 goals.

Rögle's home defensive record is the standout trend heading into Thursday. They've beaten Djurgården 3-1, Linköping 2-1 in overtime and Timrå 4-1 at home, conceding exactly one goal in all three games.

That fits nicely against an HV71 attack that has slowed considerably. They've scored 2, 2 and 1 goals across their last three games, most recently managing just one in a 3-1 defeat against Färjestad.

Rögle have also kept things tight away from home, allowing only 12 goals through six SHL games, and we're expecting that defence to dictate the game again at Catena Arena.

  • Rögle are 3-0 at home including overtime this SHL season.
  • They have conceded exactly one goal in each of their three home games.
  • HV71 have scored five goals across their last three matches.
  • Rögle have allowed only 12 goals in six SHL games, an average of 2.0 per game.

Rögle BK Form

Rögle have gone 3-3 through their opening six games, but their results don't tell the full story. They've conceded only 12 goals and their home form has been particularly impressive, with wins over Djurgården, Linköping and Timrå.

They've allowed just three goals in those three home games, and the 4-1 victory over Timrå was probably the clearest example of the game we're expecting here. Rögle got themselves in front and gave Timrå very little opportunity to work their way back into it.

Lubos Horky has also emerged as their most consistent goal threat. He has four goals in six games, with those goals coming in four separate matches. Horky scored again in the 3-2 defeat against Växjö last time out, making him our choice to find the net against HV71.

HV71 Form

HV71 have won only two of their opening six games and come into Thursday after a 3-1 defeat against Färjestad.

Their attack has cooled after some wild games earlier in the season. HV71 scored five against Växjö, but their subsequent three performances have produced just two goals against Björklöven, two against Örebro and one against Färjestad.

That makes this a difficult matchup. Rögle have yet to concede more than one goal at home, while HV71 haven't reached three in any of their last three. HV71 under 2.5 goals is therefore our strongest selection.
