Vestri don't stand much of a chance against Qarabag after managing zero shots and just 28% possession in the first leg. I am expecting the Azerbaijani side to earn another convincing victory.

Key Stats

  • Vestri have lost by 3 goals in their last 2 matches.
  • Qarabag have won 4 of their last 5 matches.

Second H2H

Last week’s match in Azerbajian was the first head to head clash between Vestri and Qarabag.

Vestri are Heavy Underdogs

Vestri didn’t show much in their European debut last week, suffering a convincing 3-0 defeat to Qarabag where they had just 28% possession and zero shots on target.

They earned a spot in these qualifiers after winning the Icelandic Cup in August 2025, beating heavy favorites Valur 1-0 with just 21% possession. Jeppe Pedersen was the hero, scoring the only goal.

Vestri are competing in the Icelandic tier two division, currently sitting in 5th place. Last weekend, they were smashed at home by 2nd placed Fylkir 5-2.

Qarabag Hoping for Another Great European Run

Qarabag could have easily scored more than three goals in the first tie against Vestri if their strikers were slightly more focused. Zakaria Sawo and Abdellah Zoubir found the net in the first half, while Renaldo Cephas finished the job later.

They didn’t defend the title in Azerbaijani Premyer Liqa last season, losing the race to Sabah Baku by nine points but left great impression in the Champions League, reaching the Round of 32 and losing to Newcastle 9-3 on aggregate.

Qurban Qurbanov’s side started the pre-season with a 4-0 win over Tirol but then lost two games in a row to FC Kharkiv 6-2 and most recently Ferencvaros 1-0 but rotated heavily in both encounters.

Team News

Vestri have no reported injuries ahead of this match. Ibrahima Balde is their biggest contributor this season with three goals.

Qarabag’s best player from last season Leandro Andrade has made a move to Polissya, but they acquired Bruno Langa, Cebrail Makreckis, Martin Zlomislic and a couple of other solid names.
