Aarhus haven’t kept a clean sheet this season but know how to find the net. I think this will be another open and attack game, BTTS and over 3.5 goals on the betslip.

Key Stats

  • Aarhus have seen BTTS in 9 of their last 10 competitive matches.
  • Aarhus have seen over 3.5 goals in 3 of their last 4 games.
  • Benfica have seen BTTS in 4 of their last games.
  • Benfica have seen over 3.5 goals in 5 of their last 6 matches.

HTH - Eagles Unbeaten

Benfica have a 4-0 advantage against Aarhus alongside one draw, scoring 11 goals with three conceded.

No Clean Sheets for Aarhus

Aarhus had some luck in the Champions League qualifiers, coming back from a 4-1 first leg deficit against Lech Poznan. They went to Poland, won 4-1 and prevailed in the penalty shootout.

The Danish went out to Sabah Baku in the third round. A fortunate 2-1 home win was followed by a 4-0 thrashing in Azerbaijan where they gave up 29 shots.

Sebastian Jorgensen equalised at Benfica in the playoff first leg but they couldn’t stick with the Portuguese club. They lost 3-1 after ending with 29% possession and 0.49-4.64 xG.

Jakob Poulsen’s side are yet to win in the Superliga where their defensive issues have continued. AGF have scored six goals and conceded seven, earning three draws alongside a 2-1 defeat at Viborg.

Goals Flowing for Benfica

Benfica beat St. Gallen 7-1 on aggregate in the Europa League second round qualifiers. They then thrashed Hearts 6-1 at home before a 1-1 draw in Edinburgh where they had 20-5 shots.

The Eagles were too good for Aarhus in the playoff first leg last week. Rafa Silva, Leandro Barreiro and Vangelis Pavlidis scored in the first half as they settled for a 3-1 lead.

Marco Silva’s side started the new Liga Portugal campaign with a 2-2 draw against Academico Viseu. They bounced back in a big way, crushing Casa Pia 7-0 in Rio Maior where Pavlidis hit a hat-trick in seven minutes.

Predicted Lineups & Team News

Aarhus (3-4-3): Mads Hedenstad; Luka Callo, Mouhammade Camara, Eric Kahl; Gift Links, Kristian Arnstad, Magnus Knudsen, Frederik Emmery; Sebastian Jorgensen, James Bogere, Tobias Bech

Midfielders Kevin Yakob and Nicolai Poulsen are out alongside striker Richmond Gyamfi.

Benfica (4-2-3-1): Samuel Soares; Alexander Bah, Tomás Araújo, Clement Lenglet, Samuel Dahl; Leandro Barreiro, Enzo Barrenechea; Rafa Silva, Georgiy Sudakov, Gianluca Prestianni; Vangelis Pavlidis

Silva continues to give Georgiy Sudakov opportunities in the playmaker role which could see Andreas Schjelderup come off the bench once again.

João Palhinha has been signed from Bayern Munich with the manager commenting on the defensive midfielder: “We're satisfied. It's the return of a Portuguese international to his country, a player who spent two seasons with me, and I understand the narrative that has been created in the last 30 days.”

“When we sign a player like him for our club, it's because we believe he will add something important. We decided to go for João. We want Benfica to be stronger, and that was the objective with João."

Silva revealed that Fredrik Aursnes won’t be in the squad as he continues to recover from an ankle sprain: “Much to our regret, and unfortunately for the player, he's a very important player for the club, and I'm sure he will be again.”

“Being intelligent, he won't take long to understand our dynamics, but it hasn't been positive for us not having him, and this stop-and-go schedule hasn't been good for him.”

“Since it doesn't seem serious, I hope after the game he can be reintegrated and have the confidence he needs to be important to this team."
