Chelsea have a superior squad but are finding it hard to win in the Premier League. Sunderland have impressed all season, the Black Cats to shock the Blues and sneak into Europe.

Sunderland with Europe in Sight

Sunderland ended April with two disappointing results, a last gasp 4-3 loss at Aston Villa followed by a shocking 5-0 home defeat to Nottingham Forest despite ending with 0.70-1.10 xG.

Regis Le Bris’ side got back on track with a 1-1 draw at Wolves, a big result after Dan Ballard was sent off in the 24th minute. They then held Manchester United to a 0-0 draw, registering 1.17-0.57 xG at the Stadium of Light.

The Black Cats trailed 1-0 at half-time at Everton on Sunday but came home strong to win 3-1. Enzo Le Fee registered a goal and an assist in a man of the match performance.

Chelsea on the Brink

Chelsea recently went on a horrible run of form in the Premier League which saw Liam Rosenior sacked and replaced by Calum McFarlane.

The caretaker manager has had five games in charge, earning a 1-0 win over Leeds in the FA Cup semi-finals. They struggled to create chances against Manchester City in the final, losing 1-0 at Wembley.

The Blues snapped their long winless run in the EPL with an important 2-1 victory over Tottenham. Enzo Fernandez opened the scoring and assisted Andrey Santos, Chelsea ending the contest with 0.63-1.72 xG.
