Stirling Albion vs Dundee United Predictions

Dundee United should have too much experience for Stirling Albion in Saturday’s Scottish League Cup opener.

The Terrors finished last season in poor form, but they should still take care of a much-changed Stirling Albion side.

Dundee United to win and over 2.5 goals is my preferred pick at Forthbank Stadium.

Dundee United Backed at Forthbank

  • Stirling Albion lost 3 of their last 6 matches
  • Stirling Albion have seen over 2.5 goals in 4 of their last 6 matches
  • Dundee United won 3 of their last 8 matches

Dundee United Have H2H Edge

Stirling Albion and Dundee United have met 27 times in competitive action.

The Binos hold the historical edge, winning 14 of those matches, while United claimed ten victories. Three games finished level.

Stirling Rebuilding

Stirling Albion begin their League Cup campaign after a dreadful season saw them finish ninth in Scotland's fourth-tier.

The League Two side endured a miserable end to the campaign, failing to win any of their last eight games, while winning just one of their 12 previous fixtures.

The Binos now face Premier League opponents, having failed to win 15 of 18 home fixtures last season. Across all fixtures, the hosts have won just two of 18 games played since January.

A much changed squad will feature for the home side this weekend, as they look for a shock vicory against Premiership opponents.

Dundee United Begin Cup Campaign

Dundee United make the short trip to Forthbank for their first competitive fixture of the 2026/27 season.

Jim Goodwin’s side have not played since failing to win their last four Premiership fixtures last season.

Despite a mixed season, United should still be confident of picking up points against their lower-league opponents.

On the road, high-scoring outcomes were frequent, with four of their last six away games finishing with over 2.5 goals scored.

Stirling have several new players available, with Mark Russell, Russell McLean, Robert Duffy, Lee Hamilton, Kyle Banner, Barry Hepburn and Josh Mullin among those in contention to make their competitive debut for the home side.

The League Two side have also lost several players, with Corey Thomson, Ryan Shanley, Derek Gaston, Adam Brown, Aaron Weir, Aidan Cannon, Arran Kerr, Connor Campbell, Harry Welsh, Billy Hutchinson, Dylan Wells, and Caleb Goldie all departing.
