Sepsi are likely to focus on defending here and try to slow down favored hosts. Rapid Bucharest had a lot of problems with efficiency last season, so I am backing under 2.5 goals here.

Key Stats

  • Rapid Bucharesti have seen under 2.5 goals in 7 of their last 11 home matches.
  • Rapid Bucharesti have sene under 2.5 goals in 6 of their last 8 matches against Sepsi.
  • Sepsi have seen under 2.5 goals in their last 6 matches (including pre-season).

Sepsi Edge H2H

This is going to be the 14th head to head clash between these two sides, Sepsi have a 4-3 advantage in terms of victories.

Previous Campaign Was Underwhelming for Rapid

Rapid Bucharest had a disappointing run in the Romanian Liga I last season, finishing in fifth place which left them without European appearances.

Daniel Pancu was appointed as the new head manager in late May, and they had mixed results in pre-season under his leadership.

The only victory in friendly matches this month was registered against Dinamo Kiev 3-1, draws were seen against SK Rapid 0-0 and Kosice 1-1, while they lost in the final test contest to Liberec 2-1.

Sepsi Returned to Elite Division

Sepsi returned to the Romanian top flight last season after finishing second in Liga 2, behind Corvinul and just one point above FC Voluntari.

Their pre-season started in late June, claiming back to back victories against Csikszereda M. Ciuc 2-0 and Drita 1-0.

In the final test game last weekend, Sepsi shared spoils with FC ASA Mures in a 1-1 draw.

Team News

Rapid have a lot of players injured at the moment, Antoine Baroan, Luka Gojkovic, Cristian Manea and Talisson all being sidelined.

Sepsi’s reserve goalkeeper Bela Fajer is out with a muscle problem, while the captain Cosmin Matei is recovering from a facial injury.
