Queensland Lions Form
The Lions finished the NPL Queensland top of the table with 17 wins from their 22 league games, eight points clear of second-placed Peninsula.
But more importantly, the Lions are enjoying a tremendous run in the Australia Cup, advancing into the quarter-finals by knocking out a pair of A-League teams.
The Lions edged out Perth Glory on penalties before producing a superb performance to beat Melbourne City 2-0 in the R16.
The Lions went ahead via an own goal from James Nieuwenhuizen before Mitchell Hore doubled their advantage.
North Sunshine Eagles Form
Despite struggling in the NPL Victoria 2, the Eagles have put together a superb run in the Australia Cup to reach the quarter-finals for the first time.
After edging out FK Beograd 3-2 in the R32, the Eagles stunned 2025 finalists Heidelberg United in the R16, advancing on penalties.
Goalkeeper Rory Brian was the hero for the Eagles, saving a penalty in the 80th minute before producing two more stops in the ensuing shootout.
However, it's been a poor season in the league for the Eagles - they currently sit in second-last spot on the ladder, winning just five of their 24 games - although one of those came in a 2-0 triumph over Brunswick City this past weekend.
