Poland will not be at the 2026 FIFA World Cup in North America after falling in the playoffs. Jan Urban’s team suffered a 3-2 defeat to Sweden back in March.
That result is part of a recent dip in form for Poland, who have lost their last two matches. They head into this clash off the back of a 2-0 home defeat to Ukraine in a friendly last Sunday.
One issue that manager Urban will be looking to remedy is Poland’s recent poor showings on home soil. The White and Reds have failed to win two of their last three matches in front of their fans.
Nigeria Building Momentum
Like the Poles, Nigeria will also miss the World Cup, having lost on penalties to DR Congo in the CAF playoffs. However, they appear to have dusted themselves off and reached the semi-final of the AFCON in Morocco before going on to beat Egypt on penalties in the third-place match.
Nigeria will head into this clash off the back of winning the Unity Cup in England. They claimed a 2-0 victory over Zimbabwe in the semi-final before easing to a 3-0 victory over Jamaica last Saturday.
