Pisa vs Atalanta Predictions

Atalanta can maintain their fine form against a struggling Pisa side on Friday. An away win is my best bet, while I also have a stake on Atalanta to win to nil.

In-Form Atalanta

  • Pisa failed to score in 9 of their last 10 home matches
  • Pisa lost their last 4 home matches
  • Atalanta won 6 of their last 7 matches
  • Atalanta kept a clean sheet in 4 of their last 5 matches

Atalanta Edge Recent H2H

Pisa and Atalanta have met on just two previous occasions in the past 20 years. Atalanta claimed a 2-0 Coppa Italia win in 2014 before a 1-1 draw in Bergamo earlier this season.

Pisa Winless Since November

Pisa return to the Arena Garibaldi-Romeo Anconetani after picking up yet another away draw in their most recent Serie A road trip at Udinese. Henrik Wendel Meister's second-half goal secured a share of the spoils at Bluenergy Stadium.

Alberto Gilardino's struggling side have been more effective on their travels, remarkably drawing seven of ten away Serie A games this season. An average of 3.4 goals per game were scored in those fixtures.

The Pisa story has been far different in home matches. I Nerazzurri scored just one goal while losing six of ten Serie A games at Arena Garibaldi-Romeo Anconetani this season. An average of only 1.1 goals per game were scored in those contests.

Atalanta on the Rise

Atalanta make the trip to Tuscany after a well-deserved 2-0 win against Torino last weekend. Charles De Ketelaere and Mario Pasalic grabbed the headlines with goals in either half as Raffaele Palladino's side secured a valuable victory in Bergamo.

La Dea have picked up some excellent results in recent weeks, with six wins secured from their last seven fixtures. Atalanta claimed the scalps of Chelsea, Roma and Bologna, while their only defeat in that period came at the hands of Serie A leaders Inter. The Bergamo-based side impressed in their most recent road trip - a 2-0 win at Bologna last week.

Palladino's men now sit seventh in Serie A, three points behind sixth-placed Como.

Predicted Lineups and Team News

Pisa (4-4-2) Simone Scuffet; Arturo Calabresi, Francesco Coppola, Simone Canestrelli, Mehdi Leris; Marius Marin, Michel Aebischer, Samuele Angori, Matteo Tramoni; Stefano Moreo, Henrik Meister.

Pisa boss Gillardino has half a dozen potential absentees this weekend. Calvin Stengs, Raul Albiol and Isak Vural are ruled out, Antonio Caracciolo is suspended, while Mateus Lusuardi and Juan Cuadrado face late fitness tests.

Atalanta (3-4-2-1) Marco Carnesecchi; Giorgio Scalvini, Isak Hien, Honest Ahanor; Davide Zappacosta, Marten de Roon, Ederson, Lorenzo Bernasconi; Charles De Ketelaere, Nicola Zalewski; Nikola Krstovic.

Atalanta boss Palladino has five expected absentees for Friday's Serie A matchup. Raoul Bellanova, Mitchel Bakker, Ben Godfrey and Sead Kolasinac are all ruled out. Ademola Lookman is unavailable due to AFCON involvement with Nigeria, while Berat Djimsiti is rated doubtful.
