Salford finished the regular season with three clean sheets in four games. They beat Bromley 2-0 before a 0-0 draw at Crawley where they had 2.51-0.73 xG, costing them automatic promotion.

The Ammies began the play-offs at Grimsby where they fell behind in the 1st minute. Kallum Cesay equalised and Adebola Oluwo scored before the break to secure a 2-1 victory.

Karl Robinson’s side returned home where Daniel Udoh put them ahead, Grimsby scoring two late goals to take it to extra time. Cesay came up big to score in the 117th minute and secure a spot in the final.
