Malaysia Form - Winning Start Made
Malaysia made a winning start to the ASEAN Championship when coming from a goal down to defeat Myanmar last week.
A Paulo Josue double after the break earned Malaysia a 2-1 victory after Myat Kaung Khant had opened the scoring in the 10th minute.
Tan Cheng Hoe's side had arrived into the tournament without a warm-up game.
They last played in March when a 3-1 defeat to Vietnam in an AFC Asian Cup qualifier ended Malaysia's hopes of qualifying for the 2027 AFC Asian Cup.
Laos Form - Heavy Loss To Start
Laos were comfortably beaten 5-0 by Thailand in their tournament opener, playing with 10 men for the entire second-half.
Phetdavanh Somsanith was dismissed just before half-time with Laos trailing 2-0 at the time, and they conceded three more in the opening 14 minutes of the second half.
It is now seven defeats in nine games for Laos, although they did win their final Asian Cup qualifier in March.
In what was Vladica Grujic's first match in charge, Laos recorded a narrow 1-0 victory over Nepal for a rare win.
