PSG are the favourites here despite being unable to win in three straight games. The Parisians can’t be expected to keep a clean sheet any time soon, Monaco to find the net in a high scoring clash.

Key Stats

  • PSG have failed to keep a clean sheet in their last 5 matches.
  • PSG have seen over 3.5 goals in their last 2 matches.
  • PSG have seen BTTS & over 3.5 goals in 4 of their last 5 matches against Monaco.
  • Monaco have seen BTTS in 9 of their last 10 away matches.

HTH

PSG have been playing catch up with Monaco and been the dominant team since 2006. Monaco lead the HTH 50-39 alongside 30 draws.

PSG in a Slump

Paris Saint-Germain haven’t been at their best this season and are yet to keep a clean sheet. They beat Aston Villa 2-1 to claim the UEFA Super Cup, ending with 1.58-2.49 xG.

Luis Enrique’s side kept it tighter at Lens in the French Super Cup but fell to a disappointing 1-0 defeat. They played against 10 men for over 40 minutes, enjoyed 69% possession and 23-8 shots.

The Parisians began their Ligue 1 title defence with a 2-2 draw at Rennes. Trailing 2-0 at half-time, Ferran Torres came off the bench to score two late goals.

PSG left it late again at Lille last time out. Down 2-0 in added time, Vitinha scored with a spectacular strike and delivered a cross that Marquinhos headed home to secure another 2-2 draw.

Enrique discussed the resilience of his team: “That’s the hallmark of this team over the last three years. When everyone thinks we’re dead, we have the ability to turn it around.”

“You might think that two points from two matches isn’t much, but when you consider the results we got last year at Rennes and Lille, we’ve actually picked up one more point from those two fixtures.”

“We’re trying to stay positive, it’s clear we need to improve and perform at a higher level. But I think today the team showed its ability to fight until the very last minute.”

Perfect Start for Monaco

Monaco have had a perfect start under Filipe Luis, the new manager winning all four games in charge.

The Brazilian saw his side win 3-2 at Gornik Zabrze in the Conference League playoff first leg. The second leg in France was a one sided clash, Paris Brunner scoring first in a 4-1 victory.

The Principality club began Ligue 1 with a 1-0 win at Le Havre, a rare clean sheet on the road.

Brunner justified his spot up front with both goals in a 2-0 win against Marseille. The 20-year-old is a hot prospect, currently keeping Matthis Abline and Mika Biereth on the bench.
