Paris Saint-Germain - Champions Chasing Six Straight
- Manager: Luis Enrique
- Chairman: Nasser Al-Khelaïfi
- Key Players: Willian Pacho, Nuno Mendes, Achraf Hakimi, Vitinha, João Neves, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, Désiré Doué, Ousmane Dembélé
- In: Lucas Digne (Aston Villa), Maghnes Akliouche (Monaco)
- Out: Noham Kamara (Lyon), Kang-in Lee (Atlético Madrid), Randal Kolo Muani (Juventus), Gonçalo Ramos (AC Milan)
Paris Saint-Germain claimed a fifth straight title last season, finishing six points ahead of Lens. They had the best attack and defence in
Ligue 1, ending with +45 goal difference.
Luis Enrique's side did it without a dominant goalscorer, Bradley Barcola leading the way with 11 goals, Ousmane Dembélé netting ten and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia next best with eight.
It was an impressive performance as they juggled a deep run in Europe, culminating in back to back Champions League titles.
After winning 12 of the previous 14 Ligue titles and possessing a budget that dwarfs all their opponents in France, it's little surprise PSG are so short in the outright market.
Marseille - Top Goalscorers Depart
- Manager: Bruno Genesio
- President: Stéphane Richard
- Key Players: Leonardo Balerdi, Quinten Timber, Igor Paixão, Amine Gouiri
- In: Timothy Weah (Juventus), Hamed Traoré (Bournemouth)
- Out: Facundo Medina (Bayer Leverkusen), Hamed Traoré (Genoa), Mason Greenwood (Fenerbahce), Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (Deportivo La Coruña)
Marseille are coming off a turbulent season, Roberto De Zerbi sacked in February with Habib Beye completing the campaign. Former Lyon, Rennes and Lille manager Bruno Genesio takes over.
Mason Greenwood was their star player last season, his 16 goals and seven assists leading both categories. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang bagged 10 goals and made five assists, both players leaving the club this summer.
The southern club have a decent central defence and midfield, but their lack of depth means they can't be considered serious contenders.
Monaco - Principality Club a Long Way Off
- Manager: Filipe Luís
- President: Dmitriy Rybolovlev
- Key Players: Christian Mawissa, Denis Zakaria, Lamine Camara, Ansu Fati, Folarin Balogun
- In: Sadibou Sané (Metz), Nazinho (Cercle Brugge), Mathys Detourbet (Manchester City), Ansu Fati (Barcelona), Matthis Abline (Nantes)
- Out: Kassoum Ouattara (Besiktas), Caio Henrique (Ajax), Aladji Bamba (Newcastle), Maghnes Akliouche (Paris Saint-Germain)
Monaco finished seventh in Ligue 1 last season, their defence a large reason for the slump. They conceded 54 goals, only three teams conceding more in the competition.
Adi Hütter left the club in October, Sébastien Pocognoli coming in before Brazilian manager Filipe Luís was lured from Flamengo.
Luís takes charge of a side full of attacking talent, led by Folarin Balogun who saw his stock rise at the World Cup.
Lyon - The Kids Continue to Rebuild
- Manager: Paulo Fonseca
- President: Michele Kang
- Key Players: Moussa Niakhaté, Tyler Morton, Mads Bidstrup, Corentin Tolisso, Malick Fofana, Lois Openda
- In: Felix Bacher (Estoril), Noham Kamara (Paris Saint-Germain), Mohamed Ouédraogo (Altach), Mads Bidstrup (Salzburg), Kail Boudache (Nice), Julien Duranville (Borussia Dortmund), Lois Openda (Juventus)
- Out: Orel Mangala (Getafe), Afonso Moreira (Bayer Leverkusen), Martín Satriano (Getafe)
Lyon continue their quest to return to the summit of French football, the club winning seven straight titles from 2002 to 2008. Paulo Fonseca remains in charge and will hope to improve on finishing fourth last season.
They continue to rely on young talent but they are increasingly being sold before they can make a meaningful impact.
Lois Openda has been signed on loan from Juventus with Endrick returning to Real Madrid.
Lille - Ancelotti on His Own
- Manager: Davide Ancelotti
- President: Olivier Létang
- Key Players: Nathan Ngoy, Ayyoub Bouaddi, Hákon Arnar Haraldsson, Matias Fernandez-Pardo, Hamza Igamane
- In: Tanguy Nianzou (Sevilla), Loun Srdanovic (Servette), Başar Önal (NEC Nijmegen)
- Out: Chancel Mbemba (Al Diriyah), Thomas Meunier (Sunderland), Vincent Burlet (Cracovia), Ugo Raghouber (Burnley), Ichem Ferrah (Pisa)
Lille finished third last season, 15 points behing PSG. Hákon Arnar Haraldsson and Matias Fernandez-Pardo top scored with eight goals each, 39-year-old Olivier Giroud next best with seven.
The manager merry-go-round in France continues with Bruno Genesio leaving to join Marseille, the club hiring Davide Ancelotti who left his role as assistant manager under his father with the Brazilian national team.
Moroccan midfielder Ayyoub Bouaddi is the star player, the 18-year-old sure to come into the sights for some of the bigger clubs in Europe.
Lille have a balance of youth and experience, and if Ancelotti can live up to the hype and get anywhere near the success of his father, another Top 3 finish is a definite possibility.
Lens - Second Spot Last Season
- Manager: Dino Toppmöller
- President: Joseph Oughourlian
- Key Players: Robin Risser, Samson Baidoo, Ismaëlo Ganiou, Odsonne Édouard
- In: Maik Nawrocki (Celtic), Saud Abdulhamid (Roma), Michaël Cuisance (Hertha Berlin), Yacine Titraoui (Royal Charleroi) Michal Skoras (Gent), Thorgan Hazard (Anderlecht), Franjo Ivanović (Benfica)
- Out: Malang Sarr (NEOM), Facundo Medina (Marseille), Adrien Thomasson (Rennes), Mamadou Sangaré (Brentford), Angelo Fulgini (Al Khaleej), Allan Saint-Maximin (Charlotte), Wesley Said (Al Shamal), Anass Zaroury (Panathinaikos)
Lens were PSG's only challengers last season, taking the title race to the penultimate matchday where they lost to the champions. They were impressive at both ends of the pitch, ending with a +31 goal difference.
Manager Pierre Sage joined Crystal Palace with Dino Toppmöller moving to the club from Eintracht Frankfurt.
Midfield duo Adrien Thomasson and Mamadou Sangaré have left the club alongside centre-back Malang Sarr. Top scorer Wesley Said left on a free transfer.
Lens have a strong defence and Odsonne Édouard should continue banging in the goals, ensuring they compete for another spot in the Champions League positions.
Strasbourg - Chelsea Connection Continues
- Manager: Hugo Oliveira
- President: Marc Keller
- Key Players: Ismaël Doukouré, Samir El Mourabet, Diego Moreira, Julio Enciso, Martial Godo
- In: Angelo Candido (São Paulo), Mateo Del Blanco (Unión Santa Fe), Diogo Sousa (Vitória Guimarães), Giovanni Reyna (Borussia Mönchengladbach), Benjamin Brantlind (Göteborg)
- Out: Junior Mwanga (Le Havre), Rabby Nzingoula (West Bromwich Albion), Valentín Barco (Chelsea), Emmanuel Emegha (Chelsea)
Strasbourg have been on the rise since 2023 when BlueCo became shareholders. The link with the Chelsea owners has seen a steady flow of players move between the clubs.
The eastern club reached the Conference League semi-finals last season and secured an eighth place finish in Ligue 1. Liam Rosenior left to manage the Blues with Gary O'Neil completing the season.
Hugo Oliveira is the new boss after a successful with season with Portuguese club Famalicão. He inherits a strong squad but will have to do without top scorer Joaquín Panichelli who is recovering from a cruiciate ligament injury.
Rennes - Stability Under Haise
- Manager: Franck Haise
- President: Arnaud Pouille
- Key Players: Charlie Cresswell, Mahdi Camara, Estéban Lepaul
- In: Charlie Cresswell (Toulouse), Gonçalo Oliveira (Benfica), Bryan Reynolds (Westerlo), Adrien Thomasson (Lens), Issa Soumaré (Le Havre), Arnaud Nordin (Mainz), Eliezer Mayenda (Sunderland)
- Out: Jérémy Jacquet (Liverpool), Mikayil Faye (Nuremberg), Albert Gronbaek (Hamburg)
Rennes went on a positive run of form after Franck Haise became the new manager in February. They won eight of 12 games, finishing sixth in Ligue 1, just one win away from third spot.
Jérémy Jacquet was sold to Liverpool for over €60m but there is plenty of depth in central defence and midfield. English centre-back Charlie Cresswell comes in from Toulouse and will be an important player.
Eliezer Mayenda comes in from Sunderland to add to an attack that includes Estéban Lepaul and Breel Embolo. Lepaul was top scorer in Ligue 1 last season, scoring 20 goals.
The Brittany club are flying under the radar but there will be plenty of optimism at the club. There is no reason they can't be in another fight for a Top 3 spot.
