Gwangju FC vs Ulsan HD Predictions

Gwangju have been in terrible form in the first part of the season, and they could struggle to avoid another defeat this weekend.

Ulsan HD to win with at least two match goals is my best bet.

Ulsan Backed on the Road

  • Gwangju lost 10 of their last 11 matches
  • Gwangju conceded 2+ goals in 7 of their last 11 matches
  • Ulan HD won 3 of their last 4 matches
  • Ulsan HD scored 2+ goals in 7 of their last 8 wins

Ulsan Dominate H2H Record

Gwangju FC and Ulsan HD have met regularly in the K League 1 over the past decade. Ulsan enjoyed the better of this fixture, winning 21 previous meetings.

Gwangju claimed seven victories, while eight matches finished level.

Ulsan eased to a dominant 5-1 win in the reverse meeting between these sides earlier this season.

Gwangju Battling at the Bottom

Gwangju FC return to home action with pressure building after a dismal first half of the K League 1 season.

The hosts sit bottom of the division, with just one win picked up from their first 15 league fixtures. The KL1 strugglers have collected only seven points.

Remarkably, Lee Jung-hyo’s men began the season with a four-game unbeaten run, picking up five points from those opening fixtures.

Since that early high point, Gwangju have lost ten of their next 11 league matches.

Defensively vulnerable, Lee Jung-hyo’s side leaked four goals or more in six of their last nine KL1 contests. The hosts conceded an average of 3.36 goals per game in their ten recent reversals.

Ulsan Looking to Stay in Title Race

Ulsan HD make the trip to Gwangju, sitting third in K League 1 and firmly in the race for the top spots.

Hyun Seok Kim's side return to KL1 business after picking up three successive wins in May, before a 2-0 defeat at Gangwon before the World Cup shutdown.

The Tigers are usually a solid choice on the road, with four wins claimed from seven KL1 games completed this season. Kim's men claimed recent 2-1 away wins at Gimcheon and Incheon.

Fifteen games into the season, Ulsan find themselves just six points behind league leaders FC Seoul.

Gwangju FC vs Ulsan HD Team News

Gwangju FC: (4-2-3-1) Dong-hwa Kim; Seung-un Ha, Yong-hyuk Kim, Sang-gi Min, Min-ki Lee; Se-jong Ju, Min-seo Moon; Sung-yun Kwon, Hyeok-joo An, Ji-hun Joung; Holmbert Aron Fridjonsson

Head coach Lee has one confirmed absentee for Sunday's KL1 contest. Kyoung-rok Choi is sidelined with an unknown injury issue.

Icelandic forward Holmbert Aron Fridjonsson is tipped to lead the hosts' attack.

Ulsan HD: (5-4-1) Jo Hyeon-woo; Sim Sang-min, Jung Seung-hyun, Kim Young-gwon, Lee Jae-ik, Cho Hyun-taek; Lee Dong-gyeong, Milosz Trojak, Lee Gyu-sung, Kang Sang-woo; Marcao

Head coach Kim has a strong squad available this weekend. Erick Farias remains a long-term absentee after undergoing Achilles tendon surgery.

Brazilian forward Marcao is likely to lead the Ulsan attack.
