Floriana vs Shamrock Rovers Preview

Floriana are unlikely to be at their best after not playing a competitive game in almost two months. Shamrock Rovers have winning momentum and can secure a Champions League Qualifier victory.

Shamrock Rovers on a 3 Match Winning Streak

  • Shamrock Rovers have won 3 consecutive games.

H2H

This will be the first-ever meeting between Floriana and Shamrock Rovers.

Floriana Ended Last Season in Patchy Form

Floriana will compete in the Champions League Qualification stage for the first time since 2020.

Daniel Portela’s team were inconsistent in the closing stages of the 2025/26 campaign. They were winless in two of their final four matches.

The Maltese outfit lost 4-1 at home against Hamrun, beat Gzira 1-0 and drew 0-0 with Valletta.

Floriana ended that patchy run with a final day 2-1 victory against Marsaxlokk. Portela’s side conceded in the first half and Federico Varela and Kenan Dervisagic struck in the second period.

Shamrock Rovers Building Winning Momentum

Shamrock Rovers enter the Champions League Qualification first round for the fifth time in six seasons. The Hoops won the 2025 League of Ireland by three points.

The Irish side are mid-way through their 2026 campaign and have a seven-point lead at the top of the table. Stephen Bradley’s team are unbeaten in five consecutive games, winning four.

Rovers have won their last three in all competitions, starting with a 3-1 triumph over Galway. A 1-0 friendly win over Hibernian followed.

The Hoops continued their winning streak with a 2-1 away win against Sligo Rovers. Shamrock Rovers had 1.62 XG, 24 shots and Jack Byrne and Graham Burke scored.
