Erling Haaland (Manchester City)
It comes as no surprise that Erling Haaland opens as the undisputed favrourite for the Golden Boot. The Norwegian has redefined goalscoring expectations in England, scoring 112 goals in 132 Premier League appearances for Manchester City.
The 1.95m giant is blessed with physicality, speed and can score in almost any situation, often conjuring up goals out of nothing. After scoring seven goals in five appearances for Norway at the 2026 World Cup, he will start the season full of confidence under new boss Enzo Maresca.
Haaland takes penalties and plays for the most dominant attacking team in the competition. Man City scoring a league high 77 goals last season, six more than Arsenal. Unless injuries bring him down, he remains the rightful favourite to claim the award once again.
Alexander Isak (Liverpool)
Isak joined Liverpool on deadline day in September 2025 in a blockbuster £125 million transfer from Newcastle. After a season hindered by injuries, he will be hoping to recapture the form that saw him score 23 goals in the 2024-25 campaign, one more than Haaland.
With fellow Reds striker Hugo Ekitiké recovering from a serious achilles injury and not expected back until early 2027, Isak will be Andoni Iraola's primary target man. The Swede represents an outside chance to challenge Haaland.
Igor Thiago (Brentford)
Brentford's towering and highly physical focal point scored 22 goals last season, five behind Haaland. Thiago is blessed with exceptional aerial power, a relentless work rate and often bullies Premier League defenders who can't cope with his movement in the box.
Keith Andrews' tactical setup is designed to feed a high volume of crosses and direct passes to Thiago. The Brazilian scored 40% of Brentford's 55 goals last season and offers some value for bettors opposing Haaland.
João Pedro (Chelsea)
João Pedro has quietly turned into one of the Premier League's most dependable finishers when presented with opportunities to score. His knack of arriving late into the penalty area makes him a constant goal threat.
Xabi Alonso won't have to worry about European competitions this season which will give the new manager plenty of time to work on training and tactics. Pedro will be at the forefront and should improve on the 15 goals he scored last season.
Viktor Gyökeres (Arsenal)
Gyökeres took some time to find his feet in London after two exceptional seasons at Sporting Clube de Portugal. He scored nine times in his final 15 Premier League appearances to finish the campaign on 14 goals.
The Swedish striker has proven he can shoulder the burden of being a team’s primary source of goals. The main concern is minutes, Kai Havertz often taking his starting spot with Mikel Arteta managing the minutes as Arsenal compete on multiple fronts.
Ollie Watkins (Aston Villa)
Ollie Watkins continues to be one of the most reliable and durable forwards in English football. He scored 16 Premier League goals last season, the fourth straight campaign with 15 or more.
Under Unai Emery’s watchful eye, Watkins utilises his pace, intelligent runs and composure to make it 91 goals in 221 EPL appearances.
Durability and minutes are half the battle in the golden boot race, and Watkins rarely misses a match.
