Celtic vs Aberdeen Predictions
Celtic welcome Aberdeen to Celtic Park on Wednesday, looking to maintain their perfect start to the Premiership season.
Martin O’Neill’s side have won all three league fixtures and should make it four against a Dons side that often struggles at Parkhead.
I have my stake on Celtic to win with at least three match goals, while Camilo Duran is also tipped to continue his impressive goalscoring form.
Celtic Backed for Comfortable Win
- Celtic won their last 13 matches (domestic competitions)
- Celtic have seen over 2.5 goals in 12 of their last 13 matches (competitive fixtures)
- Celtic's Camilo Duran has scored 5 goals in his last 4 appearances
- Celtic won 7 of their last 8 matches against Aberdeen
- Aberdeen lost 5 of their last 6 away matches (competitive fixtures)
- Aberdeen have seen over 2.5 goals in 5 of their last 7 matches
Celtic Dominate Dons in H2H Record
Celtic and Aberdeen have met on 26 occasions since 2020. Celtic won 20 of those contests, while six games finished level, although Aberdeen did defeat the Hoops on penalties following a 1-1 draw in the 2025 Scottish Cup final.
Celtic have been particularly dominant in recent league meetings, winning each of their last five encounters, scoring 17 goals and conceding only four.
Celtic Maintain Perfect Premiership Form
Celtic return to Premiership action after a deserved 2-1 victory against Falkirk at Celtic Park on Saturday.
Camilo Duran struck twice inside the opening half-hour to put the champions firmly in control before a Colby Donovan own goal gave Falkirk some late hope.
The Hoops were good value for their victory, registering 19 attempts, including eight on target, while Falkirk managed only five efforts. Final xG totals of 3.45 and 0.57 illustrated Celtic’s dominance at Parkhead.
Saturday’s win maintained Celtic’s perfect Premiership record this season. O’Neill’s men began their title defence with a 1-0 victory against Dundee before cruising to a 5-1 win at Kilmarnock.
Domestic form has remained impressive despite last week’s painful Champions League elimination against LASK. Celtic have won five of their six competitive fixtures this season, with the 5-1 extra-time defeat in Austria their only setback.
Celtic have been particularly dominant in recent league meetings against Aberdeen, winning each of their last five encounters, scoring 17 goals and conceding only four.
Aberdeen Slip to Second League Defeat
Aberdeen make the trip to Glasgow after a frustrating 1-0 home defeat against Rangers on Sunday.
Lawrence Shankland’s second-half penalty proved decisive at Pittodrie. Kevin Nisbet had a late equaliser ruled out following a VAR review as the Dons ended up empty-handed.
Stephen Robinson’s side competed well for long periods but struggled to create clear opportunities at Pittodrie. Aberdeen finished the contest with nine shots and an xG of only 0.35. By comparison, the Gers registered 20 efforts and a 2.1 xG total.
The Dons have now lost two of their opening three Premiership fixtures, following a 2-0 defeat at Dundee earlier this month. Their only league victory came on the opening weekend, when they edged to a 2-1 win against Hearts at Pittodrie.
On the road, Aberdeen have been particularly poor in 2026. The Dons lost five of their last six away fixtures, while they fell to defeat in 13 of 19 Premiership away fixtures in the past 12 months.
Celtic vs Aberdeen Team News
Celtic: (4-2-3-1) Viljami Sinisalo; Colby Donovan, Cameron Carter-Vickers, Auston Trusty, Liam Scales; Callum McGregor, Mika Baur; Haissem Hassan, Benjamin Nygren, Yang Hyun-Jun; Camilo Duran
Celtic boss O’Neill has some selection issues to deal with this week. Alistair Johnston, Jota and
Reo Hatate are confirmed absentees while Kasper Hogh and Callum McGregor both face late fitness tests,
Camilo Duran scored twice against Falkirk last weekend, and the Colombian should retain his place in attack on Wednesday.
Celtic boss Martin O’Neill was pleased with his side’s response following their disastrous defeat in Austria.
“Delighted to win the game. The exertions and disappointment of Tuesday night have to overcome that and travel back.
“The physical and psychological aspects of it all were big concerns today. Falkirk caused us umpteen problems in the game here last season.
“We created a lot of really good chances, but at 2-0 it’s still on a knife edge. They get the goal and then the last 15 minutes become a worrying time when perhaps it shouldn’t have been.”
Aberdeen: (3-4-1-2) Marius Muller; Lewis Mayo, Dan Happe, Nesta Guinness-Walker; Chris Cadden, Afeez Aremu, Connor Ronan, Tony Yogane; Mitchy Ntelo; Toyosi Olusanya, Kevin Nisbet
Head coach Robinson has four injury issues this week. Brad Lyons, Emmanuel Gyamfi and Kristers Tobers are confirmed absentees, while Kusini Yengi is also set to miss out with a thigh injury.
Robinson could retain much of the side that started Sunday’s narrow defeat against Rangers, with Kevin Nisbet expected to continue in attack.
The Dons boss expressed his frustration after last weekend’s defeat at Pittodrie.
“I’m disappointed about the result, of course. I didn’t think there was a lot in the game. The key moments went against us and probably cost us the game. They cost us a point at least.
“If I give my thoughts (on the decisions), I’ll get a five or six-match ban. The authorities have made sure of that. You’re not allowed to give an opinion. You can feel sorry for yourselves, or you can control what you can.”
