Burnley vs Middlesbrough Preview

Burnley are strong at Turf Moor and will want to use their home advantage to stop a poor run of form. Middlesbrough are winless away in the Championship since March and the Clarets can win or draw in this clash.

Boro Winless in 6

  • Burnley have drawn their last 2 home matches.
  • Burnley are unbeaten in 8 consecutive games against Middlesbrough.
  • Middlesbrough are winless in their last 6 Championship away games.

H2H - Clarets Have the Edge

Burnley have a 27-23 advantage against Middlesbrough, alongside 21 draws.

Burnley Get Points at Turf Moor

Burnley’s positive recent results have come at home. The Clarets have lost just once in their previous six at Turf Moor.

The Lancashire side have drawn their two home games in the 2026/27 campaign. A 1-1 draw against Notts County was followed by a 2-2 league stalemate with West Ham.

Nicky Hayen’s side then lost 3-1 at West Brom and drew 0-0 away at Bradford in the EFL Cup.

The Clarets fell to a heavy 4-1 away defeat at Norwich on Saturday. Hayen’s side trailed 3-0 and Josh Laurent pulled a goal back before Norwich netted a late fourth.

Middlesbrough Struggle on the Road

Kim Hellberg’s Middlesbrough have an inconsistent away record, winning once in their last six on the road.

Boro ended last season with five consecutive away draws in the Championship. They started the new season with a 2-1 away loss at Blackburn.

The Teesside outfit replied to the Blackburn defeat with a 3-1 EFL Cup second round victory over Doncaster.

Hellberg’s side made it two wins from two after defeating West Brom 3-1 at home last time out. Will Lankshear scored twice and Alfie Jones struck late as Boro had 15 shots.
