Buriram United vs Beijing Guoan Predictions
Buriram United welcome Beijing Guoan to Chang Arena for an AFC Champions League encounter on Tuesday.
Both teams are in good form, and a likely high-scoring contest should see goals at either end.
BTTS is my best bet, while I also expect over 2.5 goals scored.
Goals Expected in Thailand
- Buriram United have seen BTTS in 5 of their last 7 matches
- Buriram United scored an average of 2.0 goals per game in their last 5 home matches (AFC Elite)
- Beijing Guoan have seen BTTS in 4 of their last 6 matches
- Beijing Guoan scored an average of 2.5 goals per game in their last 9 matches
Beijing Hold the Head-to-Head Advantage
Buriram United and Beijing Guoan will meet for the third time on Tuesday. Beijing won both previous encounters in 2019.
Beijing claimed a 3-1 victory at Chang Arena before securing a 2-0 home win later that month.
Buriram United Bag Late Victory
Buriram United return to AFC Elite action after a dramatic 3-2 win against Rayong at Chang Arena on Saturday.
Thanakrit Chotmuangpa’s 94th-minute goal secured a thrilling victory for Mario Silva’s side. Joao Felipe had twice put the visitors ahead before being sent off late in the second half.
The Thai side made hard work of securing victory despite dominating the contest. Buriram had 71% possession, outshot Rayong 27-6 and recorded an xG of 3.11 compared to the visitors’ 0.27.
Before last weekend’s comeback win, Buriram had been held to draws in three of their last four fixtures.
Despite a lack of recent victories, United are unbeaten in their last ten competitive fixtures since May. The hosts scored at least one goal in all but one of their last 14 matches.
Buriram began their AFC Champions League Elite campaign with a hard-fought 1-1 draw at Johor Darul Ta’zim last month. Neil Etheridge saved a late Bergson penalty to secure a point in Malaysia.
Beijing Guoan Ease Past Qingdao
Beijing Guoan arrive in Thailand in high spirits after a 3-0 win at Qingdao Hainiu on Friday.
Fabio Abreu’s early penalty gave Beijing a first-half advantage before Serginho doubled Guoan's lead in the 32nd minute.
Abreu added his second after the break to complete a comfortable road victory.
Nick Montgomery’s side were worthy winners on the day. Guoan controlled possession (65%) and registered seven shots on target to Qingdao’s three.
Despite having fewer attempts overall (12-14), Beijing created the better chances with a final xG of 2.40 compared to Qingdao’s 1.14.
An impressive run of form has seen the CSL outfit remain unbeaten in 17 games since May. More recently, Beijing won three and drew three of their last six fixtures.
Strong in the forward areas, Guoan scored three or more in seven of their last nine matches, including a 3-1 win against Pohang Steelers in their AFC Champions League Elite opener last month.
Montgomery’s men have been less convincing at the back, conceding in nine of their last 13 matches.
