Bayern Munich recently won nine straight matches, scoring 32 goals in the process. They got past Real Madrid 6-4 on aggregate in the Champions League quarter-finals.
The Bavarians saw the winning streak some to an end in Paris last week. Harry Kane opened the scoring but they were 5-2 down in the second half, Dayot Upamecano and Luis Diaz scoring to get it back to 5-4 and keep the tie alive.
Vincent Kompany’s side are coming off another high scoring thriller in the Bundesliga. Down 2-0 against bottom club Heidenheim, they needed a 99th minute goal from Michael Olise to earn a 3-3 draw.
The manager was focusing on fitness after the stalemate: "Everything went well for Heidenheim in the first half, but not for us."
"I understand that not everything can always be perfect, but the way we’ve managed to come back again and again is not a given. Now this game is over, everyone is fit. That’s what we wanted. Now we can focus on Wednesday."
PSG Close to Consecutive Champions League
Paris Saint-Germain have won nine of their last 11 matches. They crushed Chelsea 8-2 on aggregate in the Champions League round of 16 and Liverpool 4-0 in the quarter-finals.
Luis Enrique’s side showed their attacking threat in a thrilling 5-4 victory over Bayern Munich in the semi-final first leg last week. Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Ousmane Dembélé scored twice to help establish a 5-2 lead before letting the German club back into the contest.
The Parisians are coming off a 2-2 draw against Lorient that preserved their six point lead in Ligue 1. Enrique made mass changes as PSG ended with 24-5 shots and 2.42-0.96 xG.
Enrique spoke after the draw: “I think it’s a match we would have deserved to win. We created enough chances to win it, but we hit the woodwork twice.
“We have to accept it, it’s a shame because we needed those three points. It’s an opportunity that opens up for Lens, and we’ll see how they get on.”
