Al Hilal Omdurman vs Rayon Sports CECAFA Kagame Cup Preview

It is a battle for supremacy in Group C of the CECAFA Kagame Cup as Sudan’s Al Hilal Omdurman square off against Rayon Sports of Rwanda.

Both teams are perfect in the competition, but the Sudanese side will be counting on their superior record in this fixture and should have the edge in this one.

Key Stats

  • Al Hilal Omdurman are unbeaten in nine of their last 10 matches in all competitions.
  • Al Hilal Omdurman have won seven of their last 10 matches in all competitions.
  • Al Hilal are unbeaten in four previous matches against Rayon Sport.
  • Rayon Sports have failed to win four of their last seven matches in all competitions.

Al Hilal Omdurman Often Superior

Al Hilal Omdurman boast a solid record in this fixture and have never lost to Rayon Sports in four previous meetings. The Sudanese side play their League football in Rwanda and were unbeaten in the outgoing season, winning 4-0 in the first clash before a 1-1 draw in the reverse fixture.

Al Hilal Omdurman Looking Sharp

Al Hilal Omdurman come into this clash off the back of a 4-0 victory over KVZ in their previous fixture. Mohamed Abdelrahman and Muhammed Rawa gave them a two-goal lead at the break before Ansumana Samura and Taiwo Akire completed the rout.

Having also claimed a 2-0 victory over Tusker in their opening fixture, Al Hilal Omdurman boast a perfect record from two matches. They are currently top of Group C on goal difference and will progress to the semi-final with a draw on Friday.

Al Hilal Omdurman’s performance at the Kagame Cup is an extension of their campaign in the Rwandan Premier League. They are unbeaten in nine of their last 10 matches in all competitions, picking up seven wins in this run.

Rayon Sport Also Perfect

A first-half effort from Attisso Kodjo earned Rayon Sports a 1-0 victory over Tusker in their previous fixture. That was their second win in the tournament, having triumphed 2-0 in their opening match.

Rayon Sports have won their two matches in Group C but currently sit second in the table due to an inferior goal difference. They are currently leading the race for the best second-place team but need a win to guarantee a place in the semi-final.

While things are perfect at the Kagame Cup, Rayon Sports' overall form has been a bit erratic. They are winless in four of their last seven matches in all competitions.

Team News and Predicted Line-ups

Al Hilal Omdurman (4-3-3): Farid Ouedraogo; Steven Ebuela, Ousmane Diouf, Babe Diarra, Ernest Luzolo; Salah Adil, Muhammed Rawa, Abdel Raouf; Ahmed Salem, Taiwo Akire, Mohamed Abdelrahman.

Akire could earn a start on Friday after scoring off the bench last time out. He should feature in attack alongside Abdelrahman while Diouf and Diarra are set to continue in central defence.

Rayon Sports (4-2-3-1): Dande Junior; Elie Ganijuru, Emmanuel Nshimiyimana, Didier Nshuti, Charles Tchouplaou; Akbar Muderi, Ibrahim Djingarey; Elie Tatou, Issa Djiguiba, Attisso Kodjo; Herman Kameni.
