G2 Esports vs LYON Betting Predictions

G2 Esports and LYON will face off on Friday, July 10, in the third round of League of Legends Mid-Season Invitational 2026 lower bracket, when they’ll battle it out for a spot in the lower bracket final and a guaranteed top-three finish.

Both teams have shown good things this tournament, but it is fair to argue that G2 Esports have been more impressive. They’re fresh off a huge victory against T1, where G2 showed that they can beat anyone as long as they play their own game.

LYON, on the other side, cooked up a solid 3-0 sweep of Team Secret Whales in round two, but much like in other games, LYON have proven to be very one-dimensional, relying on Inspired to do most of the heavy lifting.

If things fall into place for LYON, they can put up a fight against anyone. But given their style of play, G2 Esports should have a clear idea of how to approach this fixture.

  • LYON rely a lot on jungler Inspired
  • G2 Esports are very flexible and adaptable
  • G2 are rightly favoured

G2 Esports Have Momentum on Their Side

After a 3-2 reverse-sweep win against Top Esports and a 0-3 loss against Hanwha Life Esports, G2 Esports turned on their jets and defeated the reigning world champions, T1, 3-1 to start their MSI 2026 lower bracket run.

It was a very promising performance from G2, who showcased their willingness to draft aggressive compositions, thus keeping in line with how G2 like to play. This same approach did not work against Hanwha Life, but it helped G2 gain advantages against T1.

BrokenBlade was the start of the show on the day, more or less solo carrying G2 Esports on the fourth map on his signature Kled pick. It was a huge comeback for the top laner, who has not had the best tournament so far, and potentially a sign of better things to come.

A performance like that should give anyone confidence that G2 can handle LYON, especially if Caps, BrokenBlade, and Labrov can continue playing like this. Granted, it’s not like Hans Sama and SkewMond haven’t made their presence known.

LYON Can Bite

LYON enter the third round of MSI lower bracket after a 3-0 sweep of Team Secret Whales. It was a weird series, which should’ve started with TSW’s victory. The next two maps, however, were one-sided in favour of LYON, who completely shut down the LCP champions.

The thing to note here is that LYON have gotten lucky in a few spots to win that series in the way they did. While they have been showing some good things this tournament, LYON arguably haven’t been as good as their result on the day might suggest.

LYON’s biggest weapon is jungler Inspired, who can make or break his team’s game. So while LYON can be potent when things go their way, there is also a very clear blueprint of how to beat them.
