Only Valencia and Panathinaikos have managed to secure four victories in their first four EuroLeague rounds, yet the Oranges are not favorites against the reigning champions tonight.
Valencia off to a Strong Start
Despite significant roster changes, Valencia have made a strong start to the new EuroLeague season. They began with a narrow 96-94 road victory against Besiktas before crushing Baskonia 111-88 in front of their home crowd.
ASVEL could not contain the Oranges in the third round, as the Spanish side claimed a commanding 105-92 victory in France, where veteran and former MVP Nikola Mirotic dominated with 22 points.
Valencia made it four wins in a row last week in front of their home crowd, beating another serious contender for a top-six finish, Hapoel Tel Aviv, 93-82. It was an impressive team effort, with five players contributing 10+ points.
Olympiakos Showing Their Championship Credentials
Olympiakos started the new EuroLeague campaign with a dominant 106-89 victory against Baskonia in Spain and also edged out Zalgiris 93-91 in Kaunas in the second round, thanks to Evan Fournier's excellent shooting and 19 points.
The Red and Whites were favorites in Italy against Virtus Bologna earlier this month, but their winning streak surprisingly came to an end with a 96-94 defeat, mainly due to poor control of the glass (34-41 rebounds).
Olympiakos responded in the best possible way, crushing Anadolu Efes 89-66 in Piraeus last week after scoring 54 points in the second half. Summer signing Jean Montero led the way with 16 points.
