Match Preview
No doubt this clash in Athens is the strongest matchup in the EuroLeague fourth round, with two fierce rivals locking horns and trying to keep their unbeaten streaks going. Fenerbahce won 85-83 when they last met at this floor in February.
Panathinaikos Maintaining a Perfect EuroLeague Record
Panathinaikos are having a perfect start to the new EuroLeague campaign under legendary Zeljko Obradovic, winning all three games at home against Paris 91-72, ASVEL 102-70 and Maccabi Tel Aviv 90-67. Summer signing Sylvain Francisco did great in these matches, averaging 16 points and four assists.
The only time PAO slipped so far was in late September in the Greek Super Cup semifinals, losing to PAOK 84-82, where their former player Cedi Osman landed a three-pointer at the buzzer.
The Greens were also victorious in their Greek Basket League opening match against Vikos last weekend, claiming a convincing 103-74 victory, with Mathias Lessort dominating the pitch with 19 points.
Fenerbahce Also Unbeaten in Europe
After starting the new season by finishing 3rd in the EuroLeague SuperCup (lost to Olympiakos 92-90 in the semifinals, then beat Dubai 85-77 in the 3rd-place decider), Fenerbahce also lifted the Turkish Super Cup trophy by defeating Besiktas 72-59.
Their start to the new EuroLeague campaign has also been very strong, claiming three consecutive victories in front of the home crowd against Virtus Bologna 78-68, Bayern Munich 100-76 and Dubai 76-66.
The only slip-up so far for the Yellow Canaries came in the Super Lig first round, losing to Bahcesehir Koleji 98-83, but they bounced back last weekend with a narrow 85-84 win against Korfez.
