Match Preview
Carlik Jones is having an outstanding season so far, scoring 40 points in two games to lead Partizan to two victories. Can their dream run continue on Friday against Bayern, who have also taken one big scalp this season?
Bayern's Premiere EL Game at Home
Bayern were tagged as big underdogs in the EuroLeague opening round in midweek against Hapoel Tel Aviv but claimed an 86-84 victory, with veteran Johannes Voigtmann landing a three-pointer with ten seconds left on the clock.
Last weekend, the Bavarians had zero problems against Alba Berlin in the German top flight, claiming a convincing 95-61 victory in front of the home crowd and allowing just 24 points in the first half.
Their winning streak came to an end on Tuesday, though, as they were nowhere close to upsetting Fenerbahce in Istanbul and lost 100-76, mainly due to awful three-point defending, with the Turkish side landing 15 out of 30 attempts. Duane Washington had a great display here with 20 points.
Partizan Riding High Despite a Depleted Roster
Partizan are the most pleasant surprise package after two EuroLeague rounds, winning both encounters so far even though they entered the new campaign with a depleted and injury-troubled roster.
The Black and Whites played with a lot of energy and delivered in the opening clash, outplaying Milano 92-76 in front of the home crowd. Carlik Jones was named MVP of the entire round after scoring 20 points and registering 10 assists and four rebounds.
Joan Penarroya's side forced 21 turnovers against Paris on Tuesday, which ultimately led to a 92-79 victory in France, while their shooting was at 59%. Jones starred once again with 20 points and five assists.
